5 Reasons You Should Do a First Look on Your Wedding Day

SO, WHAT IS A FIRST LOOK ANYWAY?!

A First Look is an intimate moment between the bride and groom before the ceremony, where they get to see each other for the first time on their wedding day. While we love capturing a grooms expression as he sees his beautiful bride walking down the aisle for the first time, we are photographers, so our thoughts about First Looks may be a bit biased 🙂 It has been our experience over the past twelve years that a wedding day tends to go more smoothly with a First Look. Let us tell you a few of our favorite reasons to have a one.

First Look

IT CALMS THE JITTERS

Your wedding day can be extremely overwhelming. You’ve spent so much time and energy trying to get every detail right, so there is no better person to calm your nerves before the ceremony, than the person you have chosen to be by your side for the rest of your life. We find that a lot of our couples are more nervous about all eyes being on them during the ceremony, than they are about seeing each other for the first time. If you get nervous in front of large crowds, or dislike being the center of attention, a First Look may be perfect for you. Without all the extra stress of everyone watching you, we can capture this intimate and beautiful moment for you.

SOME ALONE TIME WITH YOUR LOVE

I’m sure plenty of married couples have told you that your wedding day will fly by so fast, and believe us, it’s true! Your day will be filled with greeting family, catching up with old friends, and getting ready with your bridal party. A first Look will give you a moment to step aside and be alone with your partner. There won’t be many opportunities throughout the rest of the day that you will find yourselves alone. Take this moment to enjoy and appreciate each other and how far your relationship has come, before you are you are whisked away in the excitement of the day.

GET MORE PHOTOS!

A huge benefit for having a First Look, is taking care of your photos before the ceremony. This allows more time and premium light to capture you and your wedding party. many of our past couples have mentioned how happy they were to get a bulk of the photos done before the ceremony. They tend to feel more fresh energetic at the start of the day. Not to mention our next great point….

SPEND MORE TIME WITH GUESTS

By taking care of your portraits at the beginning of your wedding day, you will have more time to spend enjoying Cocktail Hour with your guests.

TIME TO RELAX

Who are we kidding, you probably won’t get the chance to fully relax on your wedding day, but having a First Look will help alleviate some of the Must Do’s after the ceremony. After you say your vows, the only thing left to do will be Family Portraits, and then it’s time to party! One of the most common questions we get during portraits after the ceremony comes from the wedding party, and its “can we go now?” Lol. They have had a long day as well, and can’t wait to join the festivities.

So, what do you think? Is a First Look for you?
